The Austin Pops' mission is to foster a love of music and enjoyment of musical expression by providing educational programs and community concerts which showcase local talent, present new arrangements of popular songs, and introduce alternative musical genres to Central Texas audiences of all ages. Founded September 1, 2006, by Jamie Desautels, Austin Pops received 501(c)(3) status from the IRS on May 15, 2008. As a non-profit public charity, all contributions to Austin Pops are tax deductible (section 170) as well as bequests, devises, transfers or gifts (sections 2055, 2106 or 2522). Austin Pops' Board of Directors have volunteered their time and talents to promote local musicians, singers, songwriters and composers for audiences of all ages. Educational outreach programs will target under-served music students enrolled in Austin-area middle schools. We believe that young musicians benefit significantly when allowed to interact personally with professional performers. Austin Pops will strive to provide these opportunities for generations to come.
